Fully compatible with Dorico for macOS and Windows

Works for you

If you’re already familiar with Dorico for macOS and Windows, you’ll feel right at home in Dorico for iPad: the application looks and feels the same, but with many thoughtful tweaks to make an overall experience that’s optimised for touch. If you have a USB or Bluetooth MIDI keyboard, you can input music in step time and real-time: if not, you can use the on-screen piano keyboard to input music. If you have a Magic Keyboard or other external keyboard, you can make use of extensive keyboard shortcuts – most of them identical to those in Dorico for macOS – but if not, there are helpful contextual on-screen controls to allow you to work comfortably and quickly.

Grows with you

Dorico is free to use, allowing you to write for ensembles of one or two players (such as solo guitar, voice and piano, etc.). Register with your free Steinberg ID to increase the player limit to four, allowing you to write for ensembles like string or wind quartet, or SATB choir. If you want to take your composition and arranging to the next level, you can buy an optional subscription to unlock more features and power: write for ensembles of any size, and gain access to Engrave mode, allowing you to make graphical tweaks to individual items anywhere in your project. If you need even more features, you can take your projects to your macOS or Windows computer and keep working on the same project in Dorico Pro.

Plays for you

With a built-in library of instrumental sounds and effects driven by the same high-performance, high-fidelity audio engine as Cubasis, your projects will sound great right out of the box, and you can easily add any compatible Audio Unit plug-in to use any other sounds and instruments of your choice. What’s more, Dorico for iPad includes a brand new Play mode experience, with fast, fluid editing of your MIDI data using touch-optimised piano roll, velocity and continuous controller editors.

Delivers for you

Once you’ve completed your project, you can print directly to any AirPrint-enabled printer, or you can export a PDF or audio file and share it with another app on your iPad or to another device via AirDrop. Or if you want to put the finishing touches on your project in Dorico for macOS or Windows, simply save it to your iCloud Drive or Dropbox and then open it right up on your desktop or laptop computer: projects are seamlessly compatible between your computer and your iPad.
